The history of the Garage Dinner

Invite your guests to the Oldtimer Museum, where the food is prepared on a table grill, and listen to the legendary story of the Garage Dinner during the aperitif. This concept goes back to the young Hans "Jack" Boss from the Bernese Oberland, who like many other Swiss people sought his fortune in the USA. In a Studebaker & Packard garage in Manhattan he found his first job as a mechanic. Since he could not afford to eat out, he built the so-called table grill, with which he was able to prepare a warm meal in the workshop himself - and with it the garage dinner was invented.

From the "gas guzzler" aperitif to dinner

Surprise your guests with a delicious "petrol sip" as a welcome drink. Afterwards you can help yourself to the rich salad buffet. There are six to eight different salads to choose from. Then the table grill from Jack Boss comes into play: at the lavish meat and vegetable buffet, which is available to you à discrétion, you can put together your own skewer, which you can grill yourself directly on the table. A fine risotto is served as a side dish. The sweet conclusion is formed by the gelati with various toppings, which you can choose from the oldtimer ice cream cart.

Immerse yourself in the world of rarities

Before or after the meal you can also book a guided tour of the classic car museum. The permanent exhibition impressively documents the world's largest collection of old fuel pumps from a hundred years of industrial history. Vehicle rarities and treasures from 50 years of vehicle construction round off the collection. During the guided tour through the museum you will also find out what happened to Jack Boss and what became of him.
